AFTERCARE GUIDE

Aftercare Instructions Following Tattoo Removal

Cleaning the Treated Area and Applying Ointment

  • Gently pat the treated area with clean gauze soaked in sterile saline. Do not rub.
  • Once the area is dry, use a cotton swab to apply a thin layer of the prescribed ointment. Apply it as frequently as possible.
    • Eyeliner tattoos: Neodex ophthalmic ointment
    • Eyebrow and body tattoos: Esroban ointment
  • When applying Esroban to the eyebrows, take care not to get it in your eyes.

Gauze and Dressing Care

  • You do not need to keep the gauze applied after body tattoo removal in place for a week. Unless instructed otherwise, you may remove it after returning home.
  • If the gauze is stuck to the wound, thoroughly soak it with sterile saline and slowly remove it.
  • If the area is oozing or rubbing against clothing, apply ointment and protect it with a clean dressing.
  • Use a waterproof dressing when showering. Replace it if water gets underneath or if the dressing becomes wet or soiled.
(Examples: Medifoam/Mepilex. Avoid irritating the skin; frequent replacement is not necessary.)

Scab and Blister Care

  • Do not pick off scabs. Allow them to fall off naturally.
  • Do not pop blisters yourself. Contact the clinic, as a dressing may be needed.
  • Avoid scratching or rubbing the treated area while it heals.
  • If the wound has not healed or is still oozing after the prescribed treatment period, contact the clinic.

After the Skin Has Healed

  • Once the scabs have fallen off naturally and the wound has healed, focus on sun protection and moisturizing.
  • Before the wound heals, protect the area from sunlight with clothing or a hat. Use sunscreen once the wound has healed.
  • Use a moisturizing and skin-repair ointment, such as Bepanthen.
  • Do not apply regular skin ointments to the eyeliner area on your own. Ophthalmic ointment must be used.
